It is a requirement of the Act on the Supervision of Occupational Safety and Health that the occupational health and safety representative and the deputy representative be entitled to training. “The employer will see to it that the occupational health and safety representative and the deputy representative have an opportunity to receive appropriate training for their codetermination duties regarding occupational safety and health provisions and instructions, as well as other matters related to their duties, taking into account their previous experience and training in occupational safety and health matters.” The employer and the occupational health and safety representative and the deputy representative must address the training needs and arrangements within two months after the selection of the representatives.
